“In the matter of a few hours on Monday, cable news underwent a seismic shift. First, Fox News announced that it had ousted Tucker Carlson, its most popular prime-time host and a prominent avatar of the Trump era, less than a week after the company paid $787.5 million to settle a defamation suit with Dominion Voting Systems. The same day, CNN announced it had “parted ways” with Don Lemon, who most recently was a morning show co-host on the network. Mr. Lemon met backlash earlier this year when he made comments about Nikki Haley, a Republican presidential contender, that CNN’s chair, Chris Licht, called “unacceptable.”
